Ernest Borgnine Tearfully Accepts SAG Lifetime Achievement
(HMG Celebrity News) – Loved seeing Ernest Borgnine, at age 94, presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Screen Actors Guild Awards last night. Tim Conway, 77, Borgnine’s old 1960′s McHale’s Navy co-star, kicked off a lifetime achievement award tribute during the SAG Awards, saying, “I must say I am a little disappointed. Ernie told me this was a pilot.” He then talked about Borgnine’s resume, which includes an Academy Award for lead actor for 1955′s “Marty” and appearances in such classic films as! “From Here to Eternity” and “The Wild Bunch.” saying, “Comedy is just one part of this man’s wonderful career. He recently appeared in Red, which is an AARP action film.” After a warm introduction by Morgan Freeman, his costar in “Red,” Borgnine, got a long standing ovation. Borgnine took the stage, thanked his “lovely wife, Tova” and the crowd for “this great honor” and noted: “We are a privileged few who have been chosen to work in this field of entertainment. I hope we will never let our dedication to our craft fail,” he said. “Thank you so very much.”
