Feather hair extensions are a true summer trend in the making. They are effortless, original and not to mention unique. The semi-permanent extension comes in a multitude of colors, ranging from a simple natural for a day look to a head-turning fuchsia for a girl's night out. Choosing your feather colors can be very difficult, if you’re picky like me. After all, there are just too many colors and color combinations to choose from, so decide early on what you want.

Installing the feathers is a super easy and pain-free experience no matter if you go to the salon or DIY.  You don't have to be of celebrity status to obtain the feathers, prices do vary, but they're most commonly about $30.

To Apply Feather Extensions:

  • Choose a small section of hair and thread the tiny metal micro ring onto the strand of hair
  • Take your feathers and guide them into the micro ring with the strand of hair
  • Once you’re happy with the final look take a pair of pliers and clamp the micro ring shut.

The whole process takes about 5 minutes and can last between 2-3 months depending on how well you take care of your feathers. You can curl and straighten your feathers along with your hair.

This hot new trend is definitely heating up quickly. Celebrities like Selena Gomez and KeSha have been spotted rocking this style.
