| Do It Yourself: Door-Length Mirror Posted: 16 Jul 2011 06:00 AM PDT By: Madison of Samford University. Follow me @freckshairbows. One of the major necessities for a girl’s dorm room is a mirror. Sure, you might have a mirror in your bathroom or down in the hall in your dorm building, but usually there is another person taking up space and you’ll want to check your outfit before you run out to class. This personalized mirror can be a great addition to any room and can spruce up your space instead of weighing it down like a plain mirror would. Check out the Youtube Video link of this project to see how I made my mirror! College Style: DIY Door-Length Mirror Supplies you will need:
Steps for Making Your Mirror:Step One: You want to paint your clothespins in whatever color you like. These will be glued onto the mirror to hold necklaces, pictures, lanyards, etc. Step Two: While the clothespins are drying, glue about a two-foot length of ribbon onto the back of your mirror. This is an extra decoration that can also serve as a way to hang your mirror. (Note: You might not want to use this method to hang your mirror. You can always use tacky putty or whatever you would like. 3M picture hanging strips work well.) Make sure you secure the ribbon with enough glue and let it dry completely. Step Three: Once your ribbon is set and your clothespins are dry, you can adhere the clothespins on the frame of the mirror. You should evenly space them and keep each side aligned with the other. You can use a measure tape and pencil marks if necessary. Use enough glue to create a secure hold between the clothespin and the mirror frame. Step Four: Put various necklaces, sunglasses, pictures, or whatever you want on your clothespins. Step Five: Time to put up your new mirror! Be sure to follow dorm room guidelines whenever you hang items in your room. Also see this post on hanging items on your walls. Even if you already have a mirror on the back of your dorm room door. It can never hurt to have more than one, especially if you and your roommate get ready for class at the same time. Plus, this version is a lot more personalized and fun!
