Clothes as Decor

If all writing is a war against cliches, all decorating, especially for dorm, is a war against your closet. Seriously, your closet and its belongings will continually attempt to take over your entire room. Your job is to organize your clothes in such a way that you can live around them. To help with your overflowing closet, use your clothes as decor! After all, you love your clothes, so why not show them off?

For Your Jewelry:

Jewels are pretty. Put them on display! Buy a bulletin board and hang your necklaces on tacks. Buy a display that can attach to the wall such as the tree branch pictured or a fake deer head that you can hang necklaces off of. Check this post on Apartment Therapy about hanging your earrings on a pegboard.

For Your Hats:

Stack your hats like in the picture or arrange hooks in a decorative pattern on your wall and hang hats on them. If you love your hat collection as much as I do, you’ll surely want to show it off.

For Your Shoes:

I love the ladder idea from the pictures above. However, if you don’t have a ladder lying around, try using a book case to display your shoes.

For Your Clothes:

Hang your jeans on hooks. Buy a clothes rack for your dorm room and organize by color. Dress a mannequin. Put together an outfit like in the middle picture and display the outfit on your wall.

For Your Purses:

Save room in your closet by hanging purses on hooks. For purses you don’t use as much, like the clutches in the left picture, make a bulletin board display complete with old jewels and other vintage items.

For Your Scarfs:

Hang your scarfs on a fishing line from clothes pins to display them as wall decor. Organize by color for an even better effect.
