Summer is pretty much over for a lot of us, but there may still be a little time left to check a few last minute summer activities off this list. Accomplishing something productive may not be a bad idea, especially if you sat poolside or on the couch all summer!

  • Get a Summer Job: Before you freak out and say no way, you don't have to get a full on job. Offer to petsit for a neighbor or babysit for family friends. There is great money in babysitting. If you need really money, try to get a steady job.

  • Volunteer: Not only is it the right thing to do, but it looks great on resumes. You have the opportunity to met amazing people while helping out people in need. Try looking for local volunteer opportunities through summer activities at your school or church. If you want to spend some extra money, you can also sign up for a mission trip to a foreign country.
  • Have some fun in the sun: Get outside! It may be hot a times, but the outdoors is a great way to stay active. Go on a hike with some friends or plan a trip to the lake, but before you go outside protect yourself from the sun. Load up on sunscreen and put on a hat before you step outside.

  • Organize: Tackle a spot in your room that needs the most attention. Usually, that is your closet. Go through old clothes and gather up a pile to donate or take to a consignment shop for money. Offer to help your mom with her closet too for a chance to make money off of her clothes.
  • Stay Smart: Try to reading a new series, write, or practice some math problems during your break. Check out the College Style suggestions for Summer Reading! Students lose a lot of knowledge during the summer so don't let it happen to you! A good and simple idea is sign up for daily SAT practice emails. Although you may be finished with the standardized testing process, this is an easy way to practice the basics.
  • Create a Goal List: Make a list of goals you want to accomplish during the upcoming school year or summer season. You can be as vague or specific as you want. It also doesn't have to be for school. Create a list of things you want to do with your friends or a bucket list. Think of fun and random things you would want to do. Have fun with this one.

  • Get creative: Make gifts for friends that are leaving for college or get ahead on birthday gifts. Homemade gifts can be a special idea and are different from the usual gift sets. Bracelets and picture frames are an easy craft, but if you can, try sewing or a different challenging gift. Then again, you don't always have to give away your hard work. Keep a few of your favorites for yourself.
  • Plan your calendar: Summertime plans can get hectic with vacation plans, work, friend-outings, and summer assignments for school. Try to stay on top of everything with a printed calendar on the fridge or using an app on your phone. You don't want to miss important events or get over scheduled.

Remember to have fun this summer! You only get a few months until school starts back up again!
