Not A Love Story : Movie Review

A producer makes an indecent proposal to an aspiring actor from small town, Anusha Chawla (Gill) at the beginning of this film. Even though she is more than desperate to make it big in films, keeping her self-respect intact, she walks out on the producer.

Wish Gill could use the same gumption to resist the sexual abuse that the camera constantly indulged in, through this film. Like a seasoned pervert, it sneaked into her skirt, rested right under her breasts and did a lot more unmentionable things.

At one point it got so outrageous, that I actually heard a gasp from a lady sitting behind me. Anusha wants to be a star and dresses up in tacky clothes. Justifiable. But what is not justifiable is the same tacky way in which the camera moves.

The story, obviously heavily inspired from the Maria Susairaj-Neeraj Grover case, had to be compelling. The gruesome murder of Ashish Bhatnagar (Ajay Gehi) and the body being chopped into many pieces easily makes for a gripping drama.

The scenes before and after the crime keeps you occupied, thanks largely to Deepak Dobriayal who does a fantastic job of playing Robin, the near obsessive lover of Anusha.

But by the time you reach the court scenes, the wavering hand held camera goes haywire and one feels giddy at points. I have been told that the camera was handled by some students of NFDC, a good attempt at novelty but unfortunately in most parts the film looks more like a student's project than a feature film. Gehi is good, Gill is just about average.

Zakir Husain as the crime branch investigator is good.

There is something that stands out in this film. The simmering unbridled passion between Robin and Anusha is handled very well. Even when what could have been an offensive love-making scene soon after the murder, seems justified in a strangely wonky manner, given the passion the two share.

While many might barf at the surprise climax of the film, I liked it, as it seemed like the extension of the mad passion that Robin feels for Anusha.

The film has some nice moments, only if it was not spoilt by the jarring background score (and to think Sandeep Chouta and Verma together had created magic in some of his earlier films) and oh yes, those designed to drive-you-up-the-wall camera movements.

After Katrina Kaif's objection to don a bikini and smooch Aamir Khan in 'Dhoom 3', the banner is now thinking to cast a Hollywood hottie. Three names were shortlisted and they are Penelope Cruz, Natalie Portman and Eva Longoria. Yash Raj wants to woo the international audience also and one of the safest ways to attract global audience is to cast a Hollywood heroine.

A source says, "The names you mention are definitely in the list. Yashraj has never worked with an international star in any of its films. The production house has now decided to take the Dhoom franchise to a global level.

One safe and effective way of going global would be the casting of a Hollywood hottie." A formal announcement is expected to follow soon.

Confirming the same, Yashraj's official spokesperson says, "Yes, as of now some new international options are being considered."

Let's see who among the three hotties will make their Bollywood debut with 'Dhoom 3'.

Ranveer Singh, had a successful debut in the year 2010. Now, the one film old actor is all set to feature in Ricky Behl Versus The Ladies and he will be taking up seven performances in his upcoming. The youngster is super nervous about it.

Ranveer admits, "Yes, I've had trouble sleeping. During the making, my mind was racing far ahead of my body, trying to get into the hearts and minds of the various characters.

The only way I could do such a film was by immersing myself completely into it. Since it involved playing seven characters, each one very different from the other, the experience was like doing seven to eight films at the same time."

Further revealing details, he says, "This film unravels in four chapters. Manish Sir briefed the entire team right at the start that we were making not one feature film, but a number of short films.

Every department from music to art direction worked towards building a separate world for each of the characters I play. It was up to Manish Sir to thread all these worlds together."

"Manish Sir told me not to push myself too much. I was forbidden from going into extremely contrasting characterizations.

If I played all them as completely different characters, there was a grave risk of the various avatars coming across as caricatures."

News : Katrina Kaif upset with 'Ek Tha Tiger' poster

Katrina Kaif is not totally impressed with Yash Raj 'Ek Tha Tiger' poster as the poster did not carry her picture. It has only Salman Khan showing his back. Katrina's annoy can be measured when she attended a press conference to promote her upcoming film, 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan'.

When she was asked about the first look of the film, not so happy Kat answered, "I see the poster and I am not there in it, Lovely."

Katrina is upset that she is absent in the poster but did not reveal her anger.

Priyanka Chopra has gone international. First, she has signed a deal with an international music company and now she has got a new man in life who hails from the UK. He is a popular singer and song writer Jay Sean. The famous singer is currently in India and Piggy Chops is having a good time with the singer. She dined with him at a popular nightspot in Juhu.

Priyanka Chopra in a blue sleek outfit was seen bonding with the international star. She came to know Jay during the filming of 'Anjaana Anjaani' in New York.

Priyanka tweeted about her night-out with Sean. Jay tweeted, "Dinner with @priyankachopra — catchin up, good food, good company, good times!" While, it may also seem like a musical colllaboration is on the cards, its too early to say that, says a source close to PC.

"Piggy Chops is working on her album but she hasn't met Jay Sean for any collaboration. It may or may not happen because it is still to early to say who PC will finally get on board."
