The iPhone has been coming more and more popular since its release, and it’s safe to say I see about 40 people on average in my classes alone that have one. With its increasing popularity, more and more apps are becoming everyday essentials, lets take Angry Bird’s for instance. I couldn’t go a day without it. With all of these app options, it’s hard to find the ones you really need, and the last thing you want to do is spend $5.00 on an app you don’t need! That’s a coffee at Starbucks!

So I’m going to run through what I believe are the top 10 iPhone apps for College Students. As a side note, most of these apps are offered in iPad and iPod Touch options as well for you “non-iPhoners”.

1. myHomework – Free

Keep track of all your assignments, tests, and events in myHomework. Reminders will pop up when your due date is approaching and will help you organize all your classes and schedule.

2. Bill Tracker – $1.99

Bill Tracker keeps track of all your ongoing bills and reminds you of upcoming bills for the next week, and the next 30 days. It also reminds you of your overdue bills (but hopefully we won’t let it get that far!)

3. Instapaper – $4.99

Ever had a website that you were given as you dash out of class and want to read it on the way home without using up all your data? Or, maybe you’re stuck on the subway and want to read our blog! Fret no more, Instapaper allows you to save webpages to read later without having to use your data or wifi!

4. Weather+ – $0.99

This one is rather obvious, checking the weather is something I highly recommend to everyone, student or not. Prepare yourself for the day ahead so you know if you need your umbrella or your snow shoes!

5. Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock – $0.99

This may just be the coolest thing I have ever seen. Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock calculates your sleeping movements and will wake you up within a 30 minute time window, that you set, when you are sleeping the lightest. Making it the optimal time for you to wake up feeling refreshed and ready for the day ahead.

6. StumbleUpon – Free

A personal favourite of mine, StumbleUpon takes a list of your interests and allows you to Stumble throughout the internet showing you webpages that meet your interests. A perfect way to kill time in a waiting room or between dull moments of class — not that I highly recommend the latter!

7. Dictionary.com – Free

Have a word you can’t figure out the meaning of? Dictionary.com will give you the definition in seconds along with synonyms for that word, and a word of the day!

8. Starbucks/ Starbucks Card Mobile – Free

Starbucks, enough said? Yeah, I thought so.

9. Fast Food – Free

Fast Food will help you find places to eat in your area, along with ratings, links and recipes.

10. Have2P – Free

Find yourself stuck in an area you’re not overly familiar with? Or on a road trip with friends and in need of a bathroom, desperately? Have2P will take your location and find you a list of bathrooms in the area, with ratings, reviews, cleanliness scales, and information on whether they are “customer-only washrooms”.

Thoughts?
