Advertisement   Staying Alive is based on a true story of a journalist Aditya (Anant Mahadevan) whose third heart attack sends him to the intensive cardiac care at a hospital. The "seasoned" Aditya scoffs at death whereas newcomer to-heart-ailments Shaukat is petrified. The two unlikely hospital inmates strike a love-hate relationship with Aditya relaying a few truths about life to Shaukat. Shaukat appreciates the joy of staying alive even in a life deprived of kebabs.

All along, the two wives are drawn together by the life threatening state of their respective spouses. On being discharged, Shaukat has a change of heart. He reforms, seeking a decent life.

The climax of the film deals with life as it unfolds for a man from the wrong side of the law trying to set things right...will he or wont he succeed? This black comedy is all about being grateful at the joy of just Staying Alive.

Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham:  New Delhi, Dec 14 (IANS) On the 10th anniversary of his mega family drama "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham" (K3G), filmmaker Karan Johar remembers the multi-starrer with fond memories, even as Bollywood celebrities congratulate him.

"K3G completes a decade today....the illustrious cast and brilliant crew made my biggest celluloid dream possible!!!" Johar posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.

The movie featured an eclectic cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Farida Jalal, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor. Rani Mukerji had made a guest appearance in the film, written and directed by Karan.

It was a runaway hit not just in India, but in international markets too. It struck a chord with people of all age groups due to its fun, emotional and romantic moments. Its music also has topped charts with numbers like "Shava shava", "You are my soniya", "Bole chudiyan" and "Suraj hua maddham".

Mumbai, Dec 14 (IANS) Mallika Sherawat, who has been spotted with Hollywood celebrities like Sharon Stone, Zoe Saldana and Jake Gyllenhaal, says her most memorable so far has been meeting the US president Barack Obama.

She met Obama at a tea party in Los Angeles in April.

"The most memorable memory for me, when I felt really proud to be an Indian, was when I met president Barack Obama and I told him about Bollywood. How we all love him there and I invited him here and he said that I will take up your invitation for sure. That is the most memorable memory for me," said Mallika here at a press conference to announce her performance at Hotel Tulip Star's New Year's Eve show.

Mallika shifted base to Los Angeles after she received an honorary citizenship of LA for her career achievements and charitable efforts in 2009. Even though, on and off, she has been visiting India and featured in films like "Thank You" and "Double Dhamaal", one thing she misses the most in LA is her brother.

"To spend more time with my brother. That is what I miss the most in LA. I don't get to spend more time with my brother and I miss spending time with him," said Mallika who was also seen in a Hollywood flick "Politics Of Love" in 2011 and is in India to shoot for Sanjay Khanduri's "Kismat Love Paisa Delhi" opposite Vivek Oberoi.

Mallika debuted in Bollywood with a special appearance in "Jeena Sirf Mere Liye" and then signed "Khwahish", her first film as a lead actress. It was followed by "Pyaar Ke Side Effects" and "Welcome".

Hrithik teaches easy way to quit smoking

New Delhi, Dec 14 (IANS) Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan was hooked to smoking not so long ago. But when he chanced upon Allen Carr's book, "The Easy Way to Quit Smoking", he got free from his habit, and is now helping others too to kick the butt.

Hrithik first ordered the book, which was being endorsed by Hollywood celebrities like Anthony Hopkins and Ashton Kutcher, for himself. When the book arrived, he spent time alone and finished the book in a day.

Seven days later, he turned into a non-smoker, according to a source close to the 37-year-old.

The actor has now bought 40 copies of the book to distribute amongst family, friends and needy strangers too. From the film industry, Sanjay Dutt and Bobby Deol have already been given a copy each, said the source.

SRK desperate to read books

  Superstar Shah Rukh Khan is an avid reader, but amid the promotions of his last release, "RA.One" and upcoming film "Don 2: The King Is Back", he is missing the joy of catching up on books.

"Desperately seeking a good book to read. Kindle dried up...bookstores out of bounds...heading to Nagpur would have been nice if I had a book," Shah Rukh posted on Twitter.

The actor and his "Don 2" team are beginning their multi-city promotion tour for the film with Nagpur. He also recieved many suggestions for latest books, and asked his Nagpur fans to give him books during his stay.

Tabu attracts Tom Cruise's attention

Hollywood actor is said to have struck a chord with none other than Tabu when they met recently

Those Bollywood personalities who got to attend the party thrown in Tom Cruise's honour understandably clamoured for his attention.

Interestingly, there was one lady who did not have to do much to attract Tom's attention " our very own Tabu. Apparently, Tom was well versed with the kind of work she has been doing, especially since the actress is now working with Ang Lee in Life of Pi.

Says an eyewitness, "Tom is a huge Ang Lee fan and it was pretty obvious that he was more than curious to know about the Indian actress who is working in Lee's next. So when he met Tabu, they obviously had a lot to speak about."

Apparently, the two spent a substantial amount of time chatting up about shooting in India and the actress' experience with Ang Lee. Adds the source, "There are a few Indian actors Tom has always wanted to meet and Tabu is one of them.

  Actor Rishi Kapoor's songs and films are still loved by people of all age groups and that's because of their "spunk", says Imran Khan, the title of whose next film "Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu" is inspired by one of the veteran star's hit song.

"There is certain zing in the phrase 'Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu', which connects it instantly to the youth. Rishi uncle's songs are very lively and there is certain spunk in them. I think that's the reason why there is an instant youth connect," Imran said in a press statement.

"Not only his songs, but also his personality is youthful and full of verve even today," he added.

"Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu", a Karan Johar production, also features Kareena Kapoor. It is a romantic comedy, and will hit the screens around Valentine's Day next year.

'Ladies vs Ricky Bahl' a rip-off?

The plot of Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma's new film sounds similar to a 2009 South Indian movie

With more and more South films being officially remade in Bollywood, there seems to be little reason or point in recreating a story without giving real credit.

But it looks like that's exactly the case with Ladies vs Ricky Bahl. The basic plot of the film sounds suspiciously similar to Tamil film Nan Avanillai 2, which released in 2009.

Both films deal with a con man, who cons women across the country and then encounters another lady who proves to be his counterpart in the same domain, and takes him on eventually.

Chennai-based director Selva, who incidentally isn't even aware of Ranveer and Anushka's latest film, says, "In my film there is one man who cheats three women over a period of time. Then he encounters a lady who does exactly what he does, but she is on a mission to con him back."

A source points out that the Jeevan starrer Nan Avanillai 2 is the sequel of Nan Avanillai (2007) which itself was a remake of a 1974 film by the same name, that was directed by Balachander. The source says, "Nan Avanillai 2 is not a very popular film and it garnered pretty bad reviews down South.

So it's possible that only the outline sounds the same and the films primarily are completely different.

The director of Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, Maneesh Sharma says, "Someone mentioned this film to me a few weeks back. But I did not get a chance to see it. My film is already in the theatres; so now let people watch and decide."

New Delhi, Dec 14 (IANS) With New Year just round the corner, singer Sonu Niigaam says his resolution will be to undertake an adventurous road trip.

"I have to go for a road trip and will drive myself. From Mumbai, either I will go to the Himalayas or Northeast. This is my resolution. I have to go for a road trip," said Sonu at a press conference at the Aamby Valley's annual New Year bash Glitterati 2012.

New Delhi, Dec 14 (IANS) With titles ranging from the most entertaining actor in a social, action, comic and romantic role, to the most entertaining film in the same sub-categories, apart from awards to TV and sports talent -- it seems the second edition of BIG Star Entertainment Awards aims to keep all and sundry happy with the trophy.

The awards, conceptualised by Reliance Broadcast Network's intellectual property division, BIG Live, will be the first award function of the season to honour talent in films, television, music, dance and sports, on the same stage.

With performances by Priyanka Chopra, Salman Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez, the event will take place in Mumbai Sunday, and will be aired on Star Plus on New Year's Eve.

"The Big Star Entertainment Awards will showcase a spectacle that comprises stunning performances by the biggest stars from Indian entertainers. The nominees for the awards represent the best work of the year," Tarun Katial, CEO-Reliance Broadcast Network Ltd, said in a press statement.

This year, a new award category has been introduced -- the most entertaining actor, male and female, in a social role.

Male nominees for the category include Amitabh Bachchan ("Aarakshan"), Atif Aslam ("Bol"), Manoj Bajpayee ("Aarakshan"), Pankaj Kapoor ("Challe Musaddi...Office Office") and Rahul Bose ("I Am"). Among the female nominees are -- Kalki Koechlin ("The Girl in Yellow Boots"), Mahir Khan ("Bol"), Nandita Das ("I Am"), Rani Mukerji ("No One Killed Jessica") and Vidya Balan ("No One Killed Jessica").

The movies nominated for most entertaining film of the year award, include "Bodyguard", "Rockstar", "RA.One", "Singham", "The Dirty Picture" and "Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara".

Sushil Kumar hasn't been given the Rs 5 crore he won on the show

Sushil Kumar, India's first Rs 5-crore winner on Kaun Banega Crorepati might have to move out of his hometown in Bihar, just to let his family live in peace.

Apparently, while he still hasn't received a single paisa of the winning amount, he is being flooded with requests for doling out monetary help to people from all across the country, even abroad. Naturally, Sushil doesn't know how to handle it.

Speaking from Motihari he said, "I get letters from all over the country, and now even from abroad for financial help.

The amount requested ranges from a few thousands to Rs 5 to 6 lakh. There are letters coming from even abroad. This morning, I got a letter from a needy Indian family in Sri Lanka. How do I know how needy they really are?"

Worse, the money-seekers have started walking into Sushil's home.

The distressed man adds, "People walk in with their requests at any time of the day without warning, often when there's no male member in the house. My wife and the other ladies feel insecure."

Speaking about the prize money that was promised to him, Sushil points out, "I haven't received a single paisa yet.

Nor have I got any intimation or call from the channel as to when the money will reach me. I don't even know how much I'll get after tax deduction, etc. Basically, I am being flooded with requests to share the fund that I don't even have."

Sushil is very clear about whom he wants to share his money with.

Two Indians and Liv Ullmann - in one film

Mumbai, Dec 14 (IANS) Pune-based architect Dheeraj Akolkar and Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty have taken Indian cinema to the next global level by collaborating with one of the world's most iconic actresses, Liv Ullmann, on a film.

Ullmann has been putting together a docu-feature on the life of her mentor, discoverer, lover, and companion, Ingmar Bergman who died in 2007.

She has now decided to chronicle her turbulent relationship with the Swedish filmmkaer Bergman in "Liv & Ingmar" and has got Akolkar and Pookutty to help her put together a saga that could become the most iconic love story.

"Liv & Ingmar" is being readied for the Cannes film festival next May.

Pookutty, who recently spent a week with Ullmann at Bergman's home at Faro Island in Visby (Sweden), said: "I got to know Liv Ullmann through my friend Dheeraj Akolkar. Dheeraj and I both assisted Sanjay Leela Bhansali. We became friends during 'Black' and kept in touch.

"One day Dheeraj told me about Liv's dream project which he was helping her put together. It was going to be a quasi-documentary inspired by Liv Ullman's bestselling autobiography 'Changing', a docu-fictional account of her years with Ingmar."

Akolkar was approached by Ullmann for her project. Dheeraj in turn approached Pookutty.

"We've quietly spent a good two years with Liv on 'Liv & Ingmar'. It's shaping up into a truly evocative love stories. Do you know, Liv did three films ('Persona', 'Passions Of Anna' and 'Cries & Whispers') with Bergman, then they broke up. She left him for a career outside his ambit. But she kept returning to him personally and professionally. He just couldn't imagine making one of his masterpieces without her," said Pookutty.

The best was saved for the last.

"Two days before Ingmar Bergman died, she returned to him. They spent two days at his residence on the island of Faro. Then he quietly died in her lap…What a beautiful ending to their romance! This is when I decided I had to be part of Liv Ullmann's dreams," said Pookutty, who won an Oscar for his work in "Slumdog Millionaire".

Pookutty and Ullmann have developed a durable bonding.

"I spent a week with her at Bergman's home in Faro.I was always a big fan of Bergman and Liv.This project has brought me close to both . I now know them as humanbeings, and the portrait is very gratifying," he said addding Ullmann has now offered him her directorial venture.

Pookutty's contribution to the Bergman docu-fiction is far more comprehensive.

Who can forget what Bergman did with Liv in 'Scenes From A Marriage' and 'Autumn Sonata'? We've brought together footage from the Bergman-Ullmann classics and recreated their love story through fictional devices."

KBC winner awaits Rs.5 crore, Big B says cheque ready

Bihar's Sushil Kumar, who made headlines when he became the first contestant to win Rs.5 crore on "Kaun Banega Crorepati 5", hasn't received his prize money yet. Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, host of the show, says the former's cheque is ready, but he wants it at the CNN-IBN Award ceremony.

"People asking why Sushil Kumar not paid his KBC win.. cheque ready, but he wants it at CNN-IBN Award ceremony in Delhi on 16th.., " tweeted Big B.

"Also as per terms and conditions of Sony, they have to pay within 60 days of on air broadcast... So still time for expiry!" he further posted.

The episode, in which the lady luck seemed to have smiled at the simpleton, was telecast Nov 2.

Sushil Kumar reportedly told a tabloid that people have been constantly approaching him for financial aids ever since he emerged victorious on the reality game show. However, he isn't able to offer any help as he hasn't received a single penny of the jackpot money he won.

Zee buys the official rights of 'Don 2' for Rs 37 crore

Farhan Akhtar's 'Don 2-The chase continues' is the last big release of 2011. It is heard that Zee entertainment channel is buying the official broadcast rights of the film for Rs 37 crore. Zee has acquired the rights for showing the film for seven years.

Jayantilal Gada, head of the film acquisition business at the Zee Group, however said that the size of the deal is very big. It was a bumper year for Reliance Entertainment as their last two films ('Bodyguard' and 'Singham') crossing the mark of Rs 100-crore.

"Satellite is an important revenue stream for all presenters and producers, including us," said Reliance Entertainment chief strategy officer Priti Shahani. The film stars Priyanka Chopra and Shahrukh Khan in the lead. The film will hit the theatre on December 23.

By his own admission, John Abraham is a changed man. He is talking more, dancing more and is certainly more visible than ever before. With a slate of films lined up in the New Year, Bollywood's quintessential handsome hunk hopes to find "inspired living".

"I think I have let myself go. I have opened up and let my hair down gradually. So the change is evident, both in my personal as well as professional life," John told in a telephonic interview from Mumbai.

The 38-year-old who split from his girlfriend of eight years, actress Bipasha Basu, earlier this year, was quite reticent earlier. But thanks to movie promotions, which required him to be in the limelight as well as meet and greet fans and mediapersons, John has come out of his shell.

This year has been significant for John as he had three releases - "7 Khoon Maaf", "Force" and "Desi Boyz". If "7 Khoon Maaf" won critical appreciation, the other two faired well at the box office. In fact, "Force" is being considered one of John's biggest releases so far in his eight-year-old acting career, which kickstarted with "Jism".

"I am happy. This is the best phase of my career so far. But you never know how long this lasts! With my present slate of films, I can look forward to ups and downs, but I would like to believe that I have a safe set of projects in my kitty," said John.

His visibility on screen and off screen will bump up next year thanks to his long line-up of films - "I, Me Aur Main", "Housefull 2", "Race 2" and "Shootout At Wadala".

Could the much-talked about sequel to Mahesh Bhatt's "Jism" also be in the pipeline?

"Well, I can't say anything right now. Bhatt saab spoke to me about the film, but I have been busy shooting. He spoke to me and said: 'John, I'm planning something on it.'

But that's about it. I have not even read the script yet; so I can take a decision only once I do that," said John, who might feature alongside Indo-Canadian porn star Sunny Leone if he is offered and accepts "Jism 2".

Dev Anand's ashes to be immersed in Godavari

Dev Anand's last rites were performed at the Putney Vale Crematorium in London and his son Suneil Anand will immerse his ashes in the Godavari river in Nasik this afternoon. Mohan Churiwala, a close assistant of the legendary actor has confirmed the news.

Mohan Churiwala, who escorted Suneil to Nashik from Mumbai, earlier said, "He (Suneil) is coming to Mumbai by around 12 pm. From here, we are going to Nashik to immerse Dev saab's ashes in the holy river – Godavari."

After the funeral in London a memorial service was held at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in London.  "A memorial service will be held at Mehboob Studios in suburban Bandra on Friday. It will be held there because a make-up room of Dev saab is still at the studio. Also, there is some emotional connect as he had shot a lot of films over there," Churiwala informed.

'Dhoom 3': American fitness trainer for Aamir

American trainer brought down to work on Khan's body for 'Dhoom 3'

Aamir Khan's recent appearance at an event where he flexed his muscles during a game of badminton was a clear indication that the star has already started preparing for Dhoom 3.

Mr Perfectionist has an American trainer David who has been flown in from California to get the star in the required shape for the action adventure's third sequel.

The trainer specialises in spinning as a fitness regime and also been showcasing his skills to the public in Mumbai.

Though the makers of the film and Aamir are extremely guarded about divulging details about the project beforehand, a source states, "David has been in Mumbai for a while and has been put up at a place near Carter Road. He has been given the task to get Aamir in kicking shape for the film."

Apparently in the last few days because of the birth of his son, Azad, on December 1, Aamir has been tied up but he will soon resume his workouts with David.

There has been a great deal of speculation about Aamir's character in the film that has him paired with Katrina Kaif.

The buzz has been varied from him being a gymnast to a ballet dancer to him learning parkour to make his body agile. But the names associated with the project prefer to be silent on the front.

Apparently his co-stars Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra will begin shooting for the action flick in March while Aamir will begin shooting only in June after Talaash, his film with Reema Kagti releases.

For his earlier flicks like Ghajini and 3 Idiots, Aamir had bulked up and shed weight respectively.
