Posted: 29 Dec 2011 09:37 AM PST

He is known for his candyfloss movies and designer dramas, and she excels at making experimental and real life-inspired stories. Together, Ekta Kapoor and Karan Johar, once rumoured to be a couple, are now ready to co-produce a movie.

"Ekta and I are super excited about the script we are producing together... will announce details as we cast the film and title it!!!" Johar posted on his Twitter page Wednesday.

According to reports, the film will be a "love story with a twist", and it will be directed by Akshay Roy.

It will be interesting to see what Johar's Dharma Productions and Ekta's Balaji Motion Pictures will have to offer considering their different styles of filmmaking.

The rumour about Johar and Ekta's romance had reached its peak when news of their wedding started doing the rounds three years ago.

But they have been good friends since childhood, and have been looking forward to working together for a long time.

I have no words to describe Ghalib: Gulzar

Posted: 29 Dec 2011 07:37 AM PST

He visits the narrow lanes of Mirza Ghalib's Haveli in Chandni Chowk every year to mark his birth anniversary and legendary lyricist Gulzar says the hussle and bussle of the street takes him close to the famous Urdu poet.

Dresssed in his trademark white Pyjama and Kurta, Gulzar said he did not have words to describe the greatness of Ghalib.

"I visit here every year and I love the place. The best part is that it has not changed a bit. Every year, I have to make my way anyhow among the devotees to enter his (Ghalib's) Haveli.

"It gives me a warm feeling and amidst his own people I feel myself close to Ghalib. He was a great poet and I have no words to describe a poet of such stature," said Gulzar on the sidelines of the 214th birth anniversary celebration of the Urdu poet.

The highlight of this year's celebration is the remarkable transformation of Ghalib's Haveli, with a new permament exhibition by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) that showcases the original robes and works by Ghalib during his important phase of his life.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit last evening. Ironically, the posters celebrating the life and work of the great Urdu poet were in English and Hindi, a fact pointed out by the locals.

A play 'Ghalib In New Delhi' is also being staged today. The comic play revolves around the great poet, who decides to visit his beloved Delhi to witness his posthumous fame, only to suffer an identity crisis.

Katrina cashes in on her net worth

Katrina Kaif will be creating a website where distressed female folk can get help and support

'Tis the season to give and share, and it appears Katrina Kaif is planning to do just that by creating a website for distressed women, who need urgent and immediate help and support, but don't know where to take their problem to, for the most effective remedy.

Says a source close to the actress, "For a very long time Kat has been quietly helping her mother with all the philanthropic work that she does in Pondicherry, for deprived children.

Katrina feels an online helpline for women through a website would be a good idea.

Earlier she was in the midst of designing her own website. But at this point of time she feels a website devoted to women who are too embarrassed to discuss their distress on the phone and television, would be far more in-sync with what she feels is the correct way to use her strength on the internet."

Katrina, who was voted the most-searched personality on a popular search engine on the internet, says, "I am told I am ahead of people who have achieved a lot more than me. I really don't take that seriously.

Just being an Internet-favourite is not of much use unless you do something substantial with what you have. I am looking at other ways to carry forward the clout that my name might generate on the web. But it's too early to share my plans."

A noble gesture, but the cynics in us cannot help but notice that her film on domestic violence is also on the anvil. In February, this year, the actress had in fact also attended an event along with Saif Ali Khan, to spread awareness against domestic abuse.

Shahrukh Khan must be breathing easy. His 'Don 2' didn't just open well, it also managed to sustain itself well over the weekend and then the dreaded Monday to ensure that it would now be a clean hit at the least. With around 50 crore coming in it's opening weekend, the film has seen the best start ever for a film released on a non-holiday period. Even otherwise, the film has done quite well and though one does assume that at least 5 crore more could have been gained if not for the 'Ra. One' backlash, the collections in hand are still good enough to ensure a healthy status ahead.
