Neelam spread rumors of SRK-Priyanka's affair

Neelam Kothari loves gossiping but this time her habit landed her in big trouble. She is on the verge of losing the friendship of Shahrukh, Gauri and Priyanka. According to the latest grapevine, Neelam is the main culprit of spreading the rumor of Shahrukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra's love affair.

Says a source, "For the last six months, various stories have appeared in the media about SRK and PC being more than goos friends - stories that have upset and irritated the actress. Apparently, Priyanka discovered that these stories were beind spread by Neelam, who is close to Gauri and loves to gossip. PC naturally started discussing this with friends, who promptly told Neelam about it. She didn't want to take it lying down, so Neelam called Priyanka to clarify matters. PC was in no mood to be soothed, so she gave it back to her and very soon it became a slanging match!"

When quizzed about it, Neelam says, "It's not true. The fight never happened. I share a very cordial relationship with Priyanka. I would never speak about my friend''s (Gauri Khan) husband like that."

For the last few months, there has been immense trouble in Gauri and Shahrukh's paradise due to his closeness with Priyanka.

Fridays have always been one day actors, producers and directors look forward to. More so actors, because it decides their fate and clout at the Box Office. This Friday, two newcomers Sunny Gill and Simran Kaur Mundi will get a taste of what stardom and criticism is all about. It's one thing to aspire to be a star, it's another story how much effort you have put it. And effort shows, even if the director bungles.

Here, first time director Pawan Gill in a film produced by Aman Gill and the lead actor being Sunny Gill, bungles big time. He has two fresh faces but gives them a half-baked story to make a meal of. Obviously they will bungle.

The story is clumsy to the core. There's Rohan Bhatia (Sunny) a fresh graduate out to be the best in the stock market. His stock with the babes is on an all-time high. 'Girlfriend number 31,' says his father, an Army officer, when he drops in to meet him unannounced on graduation day. Rohan is your typical 24-year-old who thinks the world is at his feet. He runs into a seasoned pro Vikrant (Aly Khan) whose experience allows him to sense the desperation in Rohan's attitude. Vikrant uses Rohan to up his stock in the organization where Rohan is an intern.


In walks girl number 32, Neha Kapoor (Simran). She plays hard to get. Rohan steals his best buddies 'date book' for tips and manages to seduce her. Somewhere he falls in love with her, but then his moment in bed with a female client throws his well-set life off-track.

Nothing works in this film, the story, acting, songs or the locations. You can shoot gorgeous landscapes but ultimately it all boils down to the characters on screen who will make that defining difference whether the cinematography will be talked about or not.

The only performance of note is that of Aly Khan who brings in that intensity to his character that makes it very real. Cool, calm and calculated.

For Sunny and Simran, they will have to await the fate of another Friday!

Veena Malik denies report about willingness to pose nude

Veena denies report about willingness to pose nude. (Agencies) Pakistani actress-model Veena Malik has shunned the offers to pose nude by international publications such as Playboy and the Hollywood film-makers.

According to B-town sources, Veena had received offers from Playboy, Sun UK and Zoo magazine, but she refused.

"I have been misquoted by a media agency that I was willing to do anything if I was offered Hollywood films the working culture (there) was different from India and Pakistan," Veena said in a statement today.

The controversial actress had earlier said, "When I am in Hollywood I would do what is expected of me in their industry. I am an entertainer after all."

"But this doesn't mean that I would go nude for work. How can one reach any such conclusions," Veena, presently in Dubai, said today.

In December, a nude picture of hers, sporting an 'ISI' tattoo, on the FHM magazine had caused much outrage. However, Veena had denied that she had posed nude, and accused the magazine of tampering with the original pictures.

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan will be honoured at the 10th Pune International Film Festival to be held here January 12-19, 012. "The Pune Film Festival wishes to honour me for my contribution to cinema and I find that most embarrassing, for the truth is that I really have not contributed at all," Amitabh posted on his blog. The list of those being honoured includes legendary singer Asha Bhosle and actor Sachin Pilgaonkar. While Asha will be awarded for her invaluable contribution to the Indian cinema, Sachin will receive the honour for completing 50 years in the Indian film industry. As many as 250 films will be screened on 10 screens across the city during the festival.

First she opted for a glamorous role in "Desi Boyz" and then she gave a nod to an item number.

Actress Chitrangada Singh, otherwise known for serious roles, surprised all and sundry last year and says the response has been encouraging.

"I really hope 2012 turns out to be a year full of surprises for me, and surprises spring after one another.

I am really happy with the kind of response I received for my work in 'Desi Boyz'. It was really encouraging and I am looking forward to more good work this year, " Chitrangada told.

The dusky beauty, who will be seen on an upcoming episode of UTV Stars' "Superstar Santa", made her Bollywood debut in 2003 with "Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi", and was subsequently seen in films like "Sorry Bhai!", "Basra" and "Yeh Saali Zindagi".

"Desi Boyz", which also featured Akshay Kumar, John Abraham and Deepika Padukone, was a radically different project for her. Nevertheless, she loved it, and the audience loved her in it too.

No wonder she feels her fans will appreciate her item song in Shirish Kunder's 3D project "Joker".

"The item song was hard, we rehearsed for it a lot and it has turned out to be fabulous. It is not into-the-face, the music is very catchy and the choreography by Farah (Khan) is very sensuous. It was great fun doing it, " said the 35-year-old.

In 2012, she is looking forward to "I, Me Aur Main" with John, and Sudhir Mishra's film with Arjun Rampal.

"'I, Me Aur Main' is going to be a great film. John is fantastic in it. It is an emotional, yet comedy film about a man, his relationships, his busy life in a metro city...it's basically about men. The film was a lot of fun and has a lot of drama, " she said of the movie, expected to release within the first quarter of the year.

When Koena Mitra tried calling her near and dear ones on Friday night, she was wondering why they were not answering her calls.

She was perturbed as she couldn't make any party-sharty plans for her birthday on Saturday. However, a surprise unfolded for her, when her dosts started arriving at her Oshiwara pad.

And by midnight, they were all there to bring in her 28th janamdin. Bas, aur kya? She couldn't stop grinning till the bash wrapped up.

Later, she also had a puja, a tradition initiated by her mother in Kolkata that she's been following even after moving to Mumbai.

Oprah Winfrey may visit Bachchans at home

Abhi-Ash might host Oprah Winfrey on her trip to the city, two and half years after appearing together on her chat show

On her first-ever trip to India, it will not be just work that will keep Oprah, one of the world's most famous chat show hosts, busy.

Apparently, the TV personality who is also known for her philanthropic works, will meet some close friends too. Buzz is that the international icon will visit Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan and meet their newborn baby girl as well.

Oprah is said to be visiting India to meet spiritual guru Deepak Chopra for her upcoming new show and is also expected to speak at the Jaipur Literary Festival on January 21 and 22.

Oprah is said to be trying to fit in a quick visit to Mumbai amidst all this. She tweeted last week, "Never been to India, it's been on my vision board forever."

Adds a source, "Aishwarya has been a guest on Oprah's show twice and her second time was with Abhishek post their wedding.

She has been in touch with Oprah even during her international tours, and the Bachchans are keen to have her home." They plan to keep it as low key as possible by hosting a very private dinner between Janusry 23 and 24.

Adds the source, "When the couple was on their show in 2009, it was for the first time Abhi-Ash spoke on a public platform about their relationship.

So they do share a very warm rapport with Oprah and they want her to be as comfortable as possible." Chances are that Abhishek might fly down to Jaipur or Delhi to escort Oprah to Mumbai.

Katrina to romance Rajinikanth in 'Kochadaiyaan'

If the latest grapevine is to be believed then Katrina Kaif will romance the superstar of South Rajinikanth in his next Tamil flick, 'Kochadaiyaan'. The makers of the movie Rajinikanth's daughter Soundarya confirmed the news that they are keen to rope in Katrina for the flick but nothing has been settled yet.

"Yes, we are indeed in talks with Katrina and we will let you know soon", informs Soundarya. A very important member of the production team revealed, "We've been negotiating with her for some time. She is shooting for Yash Chopra and has assured us of her dates in the next few months."

Katrina Kaif is currently busy shooting for Yash Raj's 'Ek Tha Tiger' and then she will shoot for Yash Raj romantic flick opposite Shahrukh Khan. Kat's dates are packed but she assured the makers of 'Kochadaiyaan' that she will accommodate for Rajinikanth in between her tight schedule.

"In Kochadaiyaan, Rajinikanth plays a king, a devotee of Lord Shiva. His love story with Katrina, their songs, will be shot on an epic scale," disclosed a very reliable source.

Music composer AR Rahman will helm the music of the movie. "Rahman is bringing 130 musicians from Germany to record the background score," the source further revealed.

It's a quiet birthday for Hrithik Roshan

Hrithik Roshan who turns 38 today prefers a quiet birthday with his family. He doesn't believe in the idea of throwing a grand bash instead he likes to spend some quality time with his family.

Hrithik Roshan said, "I don't think I would like to have a birthday party. It's just another day in your life. For me, every day is special. You learn something new every day, and start afresh with that discovery. I like to make the best of everyday — to spread love and joy."

 

Hrithik likes to play with his two sons the whole day. "I have had too many parties. I think it's a far better proposition to settle down at home and have some fun time with the boys (sons Hrehaan and Hridhaan). I would like to play with them the whole day. I plan to take the day off, but it's strictly for my time with family. I don't think they would like to share that space with anybody either," he said.

Interestingly, Hrithik wants to remain fit in order to keep pace with his sons. "The older one moves like a dart. If you are not fit enough, you can't keep up with him. The younger one is forever ready to play. Both of them are very agile. I need to be fit in order to keep pace with them. They too love the fact that I'm all game whenever they ask me to. While playing with them, I just need to keep in mind that I don't hurt my knee again," said the doting father.

Shahid Kapoor saves Priyanka Chopra's life

Shahid Kapoor proved life saver for his ex-girlfriend Priyanka Chopra. Priyanka was mobbed while shooting at Daulatabad Fort while shooting for Kunal Kohli's 'Teri Meri Khaani'. Around 8,000 to 10,000 people were present on the set and it became a massacre.

"On the day we shot at Daulatabad Fort, over 30,000 people bought tickets to visit the place. On the last day we were shooting at the lake, which was surrounded by hills. Two of those were completely filled with people. It was madness. Some people tried to get too close to Priyanka and that's when Shahid came forward and took her aside," the source said.

However Kunal denies that a near-stampede took place, "No, that's not true. There were no untoward incidents. Fortunately, we had the support of the local police and we had our own security. We definitely had to tighten the security to manage the crowds."

Well, the particular incident might have realized Priyanka the worth of true love.

The 32-old actor started his career as an assistant director to uncles Mahesh Bhatt, Mukesh Bhatt and Vikram Bhatt. (Agencies) His performance opposite Vidya Balan in 'Dirty Picture' has made him another bankable star in Bollywood but actor Emraan Hashmi says the success of the film did not change him as a person.

"I am as grounded as I was five years back. Tags like stars and superstars aren't something that I take too close to my heart. I know that as much as people would love to give such tags to someone, they are easily taken away as well. I would rather stay away from such temptations," said Emraan.

The 32-year-old actor, who started his career as an assistant director to uncles Mahesh Bhatt, Mukesh Bhatt and Vikram Bhatt, said he was intrigued by his role of an out of luck filmmaker and narrator in 'The Dirty Picture'.

"It was always about great scripts. From the very first day of 'Dirty Picture', I knew what was the size and duration of the role. Still, despite a relatively shorter role, I found the script quite intriguing.

"I guess sometimes what is seen less creates more impact and that was the case with 'The Dirty Picture' as well. Presence of Abraham (the character played by him) was always felt and moreover since I also did the voiceover for the film, there was a certain persona that was created. It was just spot on," he added.

Emraan will be seen in films like 'Jannat 2', 'Shanghai' and 'Raaz 3' this year.
