DHOOM, DHOOM-2, RACE....and now PLAYERS! Hi-octane thriller, hot 'n' happening star-cast, riveting 'whodunit' plot packed with international action packed SFX and VFX effects with stylish music to relish... a new recipe of entertainment is about to catered to audiences through PLAYERS.

Abbas-Mustan, craftsmen in genre of enthralling action-packed thrillers deliver out their most grandiloquent extravaganza this time, with a brigade of hot bankable star-cast. Pritam, a consistent campaigner and also a name associated with Bollywood's most stylishly packed action entertainers (DHOOM, DHOOM 2 and RACE), composes for this album. In the musical department, there is loads of experimentation in store with Ashish Pandit, a promising lyricist, delivering out the needful with an array of promising and upcoming singers. Will PLAYERS be another 'Dhoom-dhadaka' and another 'Race-y' affair from the very talented Pritam? Let's check out...

CHECK OUT: When an entire 'army' shot PLAYERS

Techno grooves of multifaceted electronically tuned rhythms takes centre-spread of musical happenings as now Pritam rejuvenates the pulsating thump of 'Race Sansoon Ki' (RACE) in the album's introductory track 'Jis Jagah Pe Khatam'. Uber-cool in funky electronica synth beat signature tune, this trendy disco-beat number has intimidating '007 Bond-ish' caricatured feel with a bizarre set of modern instrumentals, connecting sporadically well with the scheming plot and shady characters of the film. Neeraj Sridhar's invigorating voice in higher octaves catches attention and mixes well with the infectiously loud upbeat arrangements. Mauli Dave's sizzling voice raises the barometer of glam-quotient and gets the vivid support of Siddarth Basrur's cheerful back-up vocals. Ashish Pandit's lyrics are moreover narrative gestures of the lead characters and echoes out the nerve-racking and thrilling action-packed feel of the flick. It's hot-headed 'club-remix' raises the bar of floor-dancing entertainment and adds bountiful beat-juggles, DJ spins and scratches in this fun-loving listening fare. Like many of the recently heard successful remixes, this one too promises a spectacular video feature for all eventful happenings of the flick and should be an affable promotional commodity for this stylishly packed action potboiler. Chartbuster!!!

Fully enriched with Spanish tango and Italian salsa seductive 'swirling-twirling' dancing glittering feel, the seductive oomph comes in European cultural musical format in racy sounding 'Jhoom Jhoom Ta Ja'. For its cheerfully loud rejoicing feel and multi-cultural genre, it brings memories of 'Udi' (GUZAARISH) and recently heard 'Hawaa Hawaa' (ROCKSTAR), where the dazzlingly high orchestral feel gets high with yelling back-up vocals and together they set out a decorum for a feisty carnival. Ritu Pathak's varying pitches narrates out the changing sentimental shades of the track, where meticulously played instrumentals permeate well in simply written lyrics. Least explored and accepted by masses, this style of soundtrack has a somber seductive oomph rather than a raunchy feel and comes in two more versions. The male version has Siddarth Basrur's lively vocals and is spiced up well with 'Synth-pop' style of arrangements with almost similar set of lyrics. The third version is titled as 'film version' is the most appealing of the lot and comes in the voice of promising Arijit Singh, a reality show prodigy. Despite having KK, Shaan or his favorite Neeraj Sridhar, Pritam shoulders this pivotal track to this newcomer and adds dosages of electronica punched funky rhythms to this version. As compared to a couple of Pritam's hot selling solo male tracks, it sound like a pale comparison but still has sufficient ammunition to light up disco-floors.

To fuel up the sizzling glam-quotient, the femme fatale outrageous onslaught comes in fiery and racy vocals of promising Yashita Yashpal in 'Ho Gayi Tun'. Like 'Zara Sa Jhoom Loon' (DILWALE DULHANIYA LE JAYENGE) and 'Talli Ho Gayi' (PYAR KE SIDE EFFECTS), it shows the bold 'girlie' avatar and comes with edgy electronica based rhythmical tunes. It's not as enticing as 'Zara Zara Touch Me (RACE)' but is fuelled up compassionately with electronically digitally mastered arrangements and amalgams well with Yashita's cheery vocals. If choreographed aesthetically with grand opulence; it's going to be one hot-shot sizzler and will surely attract maximum eyeballs on silver screen.

Fun element is enlightened with 'Charlie Angels'! Humor is the catch-word for the next track titled 'Buddhi do Bhagwan'. After delivering out a couple of chirpy one-liners in 'Ek Main Aur Ek Tu (BLUFFMASTER)', Abhishek Bachchan's fun-filled singing comes alive and ushers dosages of comical romantic flavors in this peppy sounding track. Pritam experiments well this time as he mixes up trendy musical elements with humorous tinge with flair and the end results are really amusing this time. Shruti Pathak's seductive oomph is fabulous and so is URL's snazzy emceeing and together they pile up a reasonable entertaining listening affair. Go for it!

CHECK OUT: Shweta all set to don bikini in PLAYERS

Fresh from the stupendous success and critical acclaim of being the sole remarkable soloist in ROCKSTAR, Mohit Chauhan's sonorously mellifluous voice delights and make romantic mood merrier in pleasant sounding 'Dil Ye Bekarar Kyun Hain'. As far as the composition is concerned, it comes like a mix and match of a couple of Pritam's finest ballads with improvisation done in Spanish guitar riffs (in middle interludes), electronically tuneful fillers that connects positively with the tonality of the soundtrack. Mohit's compassionate singing blossoms to perfection again and so do Shreya Ghoshal's minty fresh breezy vocals in the latter stages, epitomizing the mushy lovable chemistry. Refreshing moments of cheerful romanticism rejuvenates again in its 'reprise' version as now Nikhil D'Souza along with upcoming Priya Vani takes the centre-stage. Nikhil recreates the magic of 'Mera Bina' (CROOK) with a feel of jazz music in his 'yuppie' fresh resounding voice and delivers out a beautiful rendition that is worth-hearing on delightful romantic evenings. Priya Vani's brief rendition is lovable but its Nikhil's domineering presence that delights as well as entertains to the hilt. The third and final version is the 'remix' version that is tailor-made for discotheque delights and enthralls up mood. Mohit's deliriously sung voice is fiercely spiced with the feel of 'club-house' remix works, a frolicking entertainer that will be adding to the promising commercial prospects of the album and flick.

PLAYERS, a stylish packed hi-voltage action thriller has cool and reasonably good listening soundtracks to its credits. As anticipated from its huge expectations, it proves to be an above average affair but lacks the zing and zeal of being 'spectacular' or 'earth-shattering' like the composer's previous works in this genre (DHOOM , DHOOM 2 and RACE), which have been big successes in their respective years of release. Against all odds, it delivers a decent package of listening entertainment. The album does very well in soundtracks like 'Dil ye bekarar kyun hain' and highly promoted 'Jis Jagah se Khatam' while there are bags of amusement to be explored in tracks like 'Buddhi do Bhagwan' and 'Ho gayi tun'. It would be really interesting to see how these musical works are interspersed in this gold heist thriller, where blazing action sequences will be the hot-spotlight. A promising box-office show will be the greatest windfall in uplifting the commercial prospects of this album.

Hrithik's mother dances on his birthday

Posted: 12 Jan 2012 09:07 AM PST

Hrithik Roshan had a quiet birthday with his family. Her mother Pinky Roshan and aunty Kanchan had planned a dinner for the family on this special occasion. They all went out for dinner at a restaurant. The queit family dinner turned out to be the most exciting when her mother danced to a medley of songs picturized on Hrithik. Hrithik couldn't stop smiling on her mom's dance moves.

A friend of the actor described the moment, "The quiet evening was planned for Hrithik's birthday. The entire family was coming together for dinner. Apart from his parents Rakesh and Pinky Roshan, Hrithik's uncle Rajesh Roshan joined in with his wife and kids Ehsaan and Pashmina. Hrithik's grandparent J Om Prakash and sister Sunaina had also come over for the dinner."

But before the dinner was served on the table, Hrithik was taken by surprise, "While the family was catching up before dinner, an announcement was made about a special dance number. And then Hrithik's mother and aunt walked in to dance on a special medley of his film songs," added the friend.

The performance lasted for twelve minutes. "Hrithik was pleasantly surprised. He did not expect to see his otherwise shy mother dancing to his songs. The family started teasing him and told him that finally they knew where he had got his dancing abilities from," informed the friend.

When contacted, Rakesh Roshan said, "Yes, it is true. But I would not like to elaborate on it since it was an intimate family gathering."

Kya Yahi Sach Hai movie review

Posted: 12 Jan 2012 06:13 AM PST

Kya Yahi Sach Hai Nirmal Augustaya, Rooshin Dalal, Santosh Anand and Vishal Khurana Ibrahim Ashq, Santosh Anand, Vishal Khurana, Naseem Ansari and Nirmal Augastaya Ashok Beniwal, Bobby Vats, Nilesh Malhotra, Saurabh Dubey and Raju Mavani December 30, 2011 06:18:15 PM IST
By Martin D'Souza, Glamsham Editorial Send to Friend

Former IPS Officer Y P Singh's maiden directorial venture, based on the novel Carnage of Angels, is an honest attempt to bring the truth to light.

Police officers of the highest ranks are shown groveling like dogs at the feet of the Home Minister! Kya Yehi Sach Hai?

There's an elderly police officer begging to be made Mumbai's Police Commissioner. In return he is willing to sign on any documents the Home Minister tells him to! Kya Yehi Sach Hai?

Home Secretary and Chief Secretaries, too are falling at the feet of this Home Minister based in Mumbai! Kya Yehi Sach Hai?

And when an honest IPS officer sets on a crusade to clean the city of its ills, he is given no support by his seniors! Kya Yehi Sach Hai?

All the seniors, including the Home Minister, Police Commissioner and the Chief Secretary are busy trying to pull down this honest IPS officer instead of concentrating their energies on running their office for the benefit of the citizens! Kya Yehi Sach Hai?

This movie focuses on the malaise that affects the police force, in particular the nexus they allegedly run with criminals and those running unethical businesses. Hafta is their extra income that allows them to live a lavish lifestyle and when an honest officer comes along in the form of Raghu Kumar, they feel threatened. Instead of helping him fight crime and criminals, they gang up against him.

The story per say has nothing new. We have seen a zillion scenes in movies where cops and ministers run their rackets. Another drawback is that the film drags at a slow pace. You know what is going to come next and still Singh takes a long time to bring the scene to an end and move on to the next. Also, the narrative would have done with a little more technical expertise.

All in all, it's a brave attempt by someone from within the community to bring to light the dark secrets of the police force. On that front this film scores big time.

Agneepath music review

Agneepath Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Rishi Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt Send to Friend

No doubt expectations and anticipation are sky high from any music album that bears the label of a premier production house like Dharma Productions as they have delivered some memorable soundtracks for their films. However it has been mostly those films that have been directed by Karan Johar that have seen some high quality music and the same consistency has not been shown in films being directed by outside directors (barring a rare DOSTANA). In fact their last outing (with an outside director at the helm of affairs!), WE ARE FAMILY, was quite an average sounding album. But with Karan Johar taking an active interest in AGNEEPATH, along with the fact that it stars one of the hottest superstar, Hrithik Roshan, and brings back the talented duo, Ajay-Atul, who have shown that they can handle the big canvas as well (SINGHAM), keeps the expectation flag flying high, for the music of this cult classic remake! So let us check out for ourselves how Ajay-Atul cross this line of fire (Agneepath) and whether they deliver yet another blockbuster this time!

The album sees a bombastic start with 'Chikni Chameli', the item number that has been the talk of Bollywood and its patrons ever since it's picturisation on the audience's numero-uno actress, Katrina Kaif. Her electrifying 'Koli' dance (which is a dance form of Koli fishing community of Maharashtra) moves choreographed to perfection by Ganesh Acharya are simply awesome and one is left spellbound by her dance maneuvers and it would not be an exaggeration to say that this is one of the best 'Koli' dance numbers in recent times. The song and especially Katrina's get up is reminiscent of legendary dancing queen and Bollywood's first item girl, Helen's iconic 'Mungda' (INKAAR) and it's a certainty that the house would come down (and a few chairs broken!) when the song is screened on 26th January. As is known the dance number has been recreated as well as refurbished in Hindi from Ajay-Atul's very own super hit composition, 'Kombadi Palali' from the Marathi film, JATRA. The electrifying dance number is very earthy, very raw and rustic and naturally all Marathi in its origin yet it's very universally appealing and that is because of its superb racy rhythm that just grips the listeners and just never slackens the pace. The fun continues even in the 'antara' and just never let's go. Shreya Ghoshal continues from where she left in 'Ooh La La' and in fact goes a step ahead with her 'bindaas' emotive, seductive rendition. And of course the new age lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya has done a splendid job of providing just the proper words which would suit the super racy rhythm as well as blend harmoniously with the on screen attitude and image of Katrina. Needless to add, a chartbuster all the way!

Highly talented singer Roop Kumar Rathod returns to the centre stage after quite a long time with a brief track, 'O Saiyaan', the last time that one remembers him was for Shah Rukh Khan's memorable love ditty, 'Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai' (RAB NE BANA DI JODI), and this number too is a love ballad. The emphasis is more on Roop's silk smooth vocals as composers provide minimal music arrangements in the background, almost like an unplugged version. The piano beats, 'sitar', 'tabla' and the soothing orchestra which culminates in a superb crescendo will be loved and appreciated by the discerning music lovers, although its' slow drawl rhythm may prove to be a deterrent.

The next number introduces the female protagonist and provides a perfect sketch into her personality with this 'full of life composition', 'Gun Guna Re' and if one does not see the credits one can easily mistake it for a Rahman-Gulzar number. Yes, that is a compliment not only to the composers, who despite being inspired have provided their own touch to the number, but lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya as well as his similes about living life on one's own terms and not giving up in difficult times is excellent. 'Zindagi ke ration mein, Gham ka kota zyada hai, Black mein kharidege khushi ka pitara re.' Sunidhi is just the right singer for this 'full on attitude' song and Udit Narayan's (Udit where were you all these years!) brief stint towards the end adds 'chaar chaand' to the number.

'Shah Ka Rutba' can in a nutshell be classified as a 'sufi-qawwali' sung at 'dargahs' and shrines of 'sufi' saints, but this is more of a situational number which is retro in its origin and not the contemporary kinds popular these days. The era of the seventies and eighties is recreated here with the musical arrangements a throwback to the 'Pathani' (read Afghani) music and two songs that come straight to mind is 'Yaari Hai Imaan Mera' (ZANJEER) and the title song from QURBANI. Having said that, this number still delivers a straight six over the bowler's head because of the superb rendition by three extremely talented artists and masters in their own rights -Sukhwinder Singh (who does the bulk of singing), Krishna Beura and Anand Raaj Anand. Lyrics are situational but at times (especially the Urdu parts) may be difficult to comprehend by the average cinegoer (read masses) which is the target audience here.

CHECK OUT: Is Katrina Kaif's Chikni Chameli hottest item song?

The king of romantic numbers Sonu Nigam proves yet again why he is the best in business with 'Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin', a love ballad that serenades and caresses the senses and lingers on even after it ends. Though there is once again a distinct Rahman touch, especially in the tune and the absolutely mesmerizing crescendo, but yet again Ajay-Atul delight with their usage of philharmonic orchestra touches and traditional instruments like 'Jaltarang' which sets up a serenely romantic atmosphere around the composition and makes the song worth its weight in gold.

The album closes with just the right number, 'Deva Shree Ganesha', which is naturally a devotional number rendered to perfection by Ajay Gogavale who sounds so much like Sukhwinder here with just the right kind of emotive high pitched singing. A few have mistaken this number for a 'Ganesh Stuti' sung during 'aartis' before the commencement of the actual 'puja', but this is actually a song sung during the Ganesh 'yatra' (procession) that takes place during the Ganesh festival when the idols are taken for immersion. The use of 'shankhs', chants , 'dhol', 'nagada' beats and a superb racy rhythm along with some apt situational lyrics sung in praise of God and the absolutely thrilling climax, which is the culmination point, sets up a massive tempo that provides the album with just the right finish and also floors the audience hook line and sinker!

Summing up, the Rahman of Marathi films, Ajay-Atul, have definitely done a splendid job in providing songs that are not just in keeping up with the mood and tempo of the film but they are very commercial and mass pleasing as well. With ' Chikni Chamelii' providing the album with just the right thrust required for a successful outing and songs like 'Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin' and 'Shah Ka Rutba' and also 'Deva Shree Ganesha' (especially in the Maratha belt), there is not an iota of doubt that the album will be a resounding success and will definitely help the film open to packed houses when it releases on 26th January!

They invaded my privacy: Bipasha upset with leaked birthday party video

Posted: 12 Jan 2012 12:52 AM PST

Bipasha Basu's crazy birthday party is out there on the internet for all to see. But the leaked video has left the actress miffed as she feels her privacy has been invaded.

"I'm still in shock that my privacy has been invaded! These were private moments from my birthday that were leaked and I am very upset, " tweeted Bipasha.

The actress turned 33 Saturday, and true to her latest song "Ho gayi tunn" from her new release, "Players", Bipasha seemed to be high in the video.

She can be seen dancing around with celebrity friends like Milind Soman, Aftab Shivdasani, Sikander Kher and Abhay Deol, amid a lot of drinks and cheers.

She even cut a quirky cake, with special candles on it, and looked fabulous in a nude-coloured gown. She can even be seen dancing in the washroom with a couple of girls, and later grooving on the dance floor with Sikander.

No wonder Bipasha is so upset. "Just because we are actors doesn't mean we are not entitled to our privacy! These troublemakers should just get more productive with their time!" she wrote.

Chaalis Chauraasi music review

Posted: 11 Jan 2012 11:02 PM PST

Chaalis Chauraasi Sandeep Shrivastava, Vishal Ranjan, Hassan Jahangir and Kashinath Kashyap Naseeruddin Shah, Kay Kay Menon, Atul Kulkarni, Ravi Kissen and Shweta Bhardwaj Send to Friend

MAASK Entertainment in association with Filament Glo brings CHAALIS CHAURAASI which is an unusual story about four men and their escapades that happens during just one night in a police van. Though it's a film about crime and criminals yet it has humour as the backdrop, and this provides enough fuel for some light entertaining music which is handled by Lalit Pandit (who is definitely on a high ever since "Munni Badnaam") and guest composer Vishal Ranjan. So, let's see if this combination of new and old can provide music worth a hear in this album.

The first song is naturally "Setting Zhala", the much talked about and promoted item number picturised on the sensational Shweta Bhardwaj and the lead male protagonists, Naseeruddin Shah, Kay Kay Menon, Atul Kulkarni and Ravi Kissen. As can be gauged from its title the song it is a Marathi based dance number (with Konkani touches) which catches attention instantly, such is the catchy rhythm. Sonu Nigam and Amit Kumar have been roped in to do the honours and they are such a joy to listen to, but making waves here is Yashita, who despite being relatively new does not get overawed and is supremely confident and is excellent with her voice modulations and control over her vocals. Sandeep Shrivastava's lyrics are as per the demand of the situation in the film and will be identifiable to large extent by the front benchers. The song may appeal more in the Maratha belt but the next number sure holds a universal appeal.

Lalit Pandit and Mamta Sharma stormed the nation with "Munni Badnaam Huyi" (DABANGG), and they once again come together for yet another chartbusting dance number, "Badmast", and this time they have the highly versatile Daler Mehndi for company. No doubt the rhythm and tune that Lalit uses are very catchy and the lyrics are very apt and certainly the kind that will be patronized to a large extent by the target audience! Although full marks to the lyricist Kashinath Kashyap and the composer for keeping the overall composition cute and naughty but never cheap and vulgar. Mamta Sharma who has already established her credentials in Bollywood, after conquering the Bhojpuri cinema, is excellent and shows that "Munni" was not a flash in the pan and she is complemented to the hilt by Daler, who sings with much 'masti' and creates 'dhamaal'. The use of traditional instruments like harmonium , 'tabla' and 'sitar' along with western musical addendums provide a good background for a foot tapping dance number that would be highly enjoyed on screen.

Coming to one of the most iconic songs that rocked the sub-continent in the late 80's, "Hawa Hawa", courtesy pop sensation Hassan Jahangir. The song was a rage and it reached such heights of popularity that a whole movie (DON 2) based on the album which contained the song "Hawa Hawa" was made and in fact marked the foray of Pakistani singers into India and Bollywood. This generation may not have heard it but one is sure that the song will be received with open arms once again and patronized by Gen X. Full marks to director Hriday Shetty who came up with the idea of rearranging an old and popular non-filmy song as it is indeed very novel. And also hats off to Lalit for spicing up and recreating the number and making it very contemporary and even more likeable.

CHECK OUT: Lalit Pandit-'Hawa Hawa' was Hriday Shetty's idea!

Neeraj Shridhar and Amitabh Narayan get the opportunity to sing the remix version, "Hawa Hawa"- 1 and it is indeed a pleasure to hear Neeraj at his eclectic best and is well supported by Amitabh.

Guest composer Vishal Rajan (also the lyricist) delivers the next track, which is actually the theme song that chills and thrills, and is highly entertaining. The whole spirit, mood and gist of the story is summed up to perfection in this all out hard rock based composition that has touches of reggae as well. The extremely catchy tune especially in the 'mukhda', the superb amalgamation of some funky guitaring, drumming and not to mention the superb rendition by the composer (who doubles up as a singer) makes this number very exciting and it would certainly be used in taut dramatic situations as a background number.

The music of CHAALIS CHAURAASI is as per the demand of the script and composer Lalit Pandit has succeeded in providing music that will aid the proceedings and entertain as well, while guest composer Vishal Ranjan too has done his bit. The item numbers "Setting Zaala" and the two versions of the iconic "Hawa Hawa" are our picks, and the theme song will definitely provide for a good background score and will overall aid the movie in getting a decent opening when the film releases on 13th January.

By Martin D'Souza, Glamsham Editorial Send to Friend

This movie is fundamentally flawed. There is a plot, but the premise is weak. Also, the so-called sub-plots don't really add up to the whole picture, making it an exercise in futility. To top it, the actual love story that takes place between Neha Dhupia and Vinay Pathak throws logic out of the window. I, for one, will not believe that a girl, who has come from Kolhapur with stars in her eyes, will settle for a portly nerd. That too when she has just been launched in a music video, which has opened doors to stardom for her.

Moreover, in today's day, which music video works? I mean the last girl who made an impact through a music video was Anupama Varma.

Saurabh Shukla, what were you thinking?

Take another example. Both Vinay and Neha are put up in a Sales Tax colony by a broker where only government employees are given flats on rent. This is in Andheri. How come the Managing Committee of the Society does not scrutinize the tenants before they take possession of the flat for '11 months'? With security a big concern today, all Societies have become stringent in their rules in letting the premises on rent. In fact, owners giving their houses on rent have to abide by certain rules and regulations drawn by their respective Societies. Police verification is a must!

Finally, when there is a raid by the department to check the veracity of the tenants, Vinay is not at home, while his neighbor, Neha, is caught and thrown out. She then breaks the lock of Vinay's house and moves in. Just like that!

Saurabh Shukla, what were you thinking?

There's also a party where Neha's friends and Vinay's friends meet. No one knows whose party it is, what the occasion is, or who invited whom!

Amidst all these flaws, Neha Dhupia comes out trumps. She brings alive her character Mehak Malavade. Mehak is feisty yet vulnerable. She puts on a tough exterior, but beneath the surface is a soft, vulnerable woman. Neha has worked on her character and has refined her performance over the years. She has learnt to give that pause, effect a body movement, before delivering the next line. Hers is a flawless performance. She is the only reason why PAPPU CAN'T DANCE SAALA will work. The other being that the second release is a dud.

CHECK OUT: Aamir has no issues with PAPPU CAN'T DANCE SAALA

This story could have worked if the casting was on track. Vinay Pathak does not suit the role of a 30-year-old. His character (Vidya) comes from Benaras. He works as a medical representative and has to bear the brunt of his noisy neighbor Mehak who is a back-up dancer in Bollywood looking for her big break. Rajat Kapoor as a choreographer too is a mismatch. He looks more a painter than a dancer!

Just getting friends to be a part of a film is not going to work. Film-making is business and in business there are no friends!

Hrithik Roshan is multitasking -- he is not only promoting his forthcoming release "Agneepath", but also working on his fitness for his role in his father's production venture "Krrish 2".

"I just need to get into top shape because from Jan 29 we have 80 days of action one after another. So I better be in the best shape. So all of you pray for me, pray for my health," said the actor, who turned 38 Tuesday.

"Krrish 2" is the sequel to 2006 superhero film "Krrish", directed and written by Hrithik's father, Rakesh Roshan. The cast and crew of the film have already wrapped up the first schedule.

"I am very happy because the script is very, very good and papa is very happy for the first schedule because it has gone very well. It was difficult but we managed," said Hrithik whose journey with supernatural thrillers began with "Koi... Mil Gaya" in 2003.

Meanwhile, Hrithik's fans are eagerly awaiting "Agneepath", which releases Jan 26. He plays Vijay Dinanath Chauhan, a role essayed by the legendary Amitabh Bachchan in the 1990 originalthat won him national award for his power-packed performance.

"Krrish 2" is expected to hit theatres by the end of 2012. It also features Priyanka Chopra, Vivek Oberoi, Kangana Ranaut and Riya Sen.

Ranveer-Sonakshi avert clash with Salman

Posted: 11 Jan 2012 04:52 PM PST

To avert a clash with Salman Khan at the box office on this year's Eid, the makers of Ranveer Singh-Sonakshi Sinha starrer 'Lootera' have decided to release the film on Bakra Eid on October 26

Eid is considered a lucky time for Salman, as his previous three films 'Wanted' (2009), 'Dabangg' (2010) and 'Bodyguard' (2011) managed to cash in on the festival hype and rake in the moolah at the box office. His 2012's Eid release is Aditya Chopra's 'Ek Tha Tiger' with Katrina Kaif.

Interestingly, Sonakshi, who made her acting debut opposite Salman in 'Dabangg', also finds Eid lucky for her. Sonakshi had reportedly asked the makers of 'Lootera' to release the movie on Eid as she considers it as auspicious day for her.

However, the Eid slot is already blocked by Salman for 'Ek Tha Tiger' and to play safe, the makers of 'Lootera' have decided to release the film on Eid-ul-Zuha.

"Lootera is set to release on October 26, which is Bakra Eid. And looks like an extremely good day to release the film.

Sonakshi Sinha had an outing last year for 'Dabangg' on Eid," producer Vikas Bahl said. 'Lootera' a classic love story set in the 1950s, is directed by Vikramaditya Motwane of 'Udaan' fame.

The actor takes a fancy to Angela Jonson and signs an exclusive deal with her

After patiently waiting in the sidelines for her Bollywood debut for quite a while now, Angela Jonson has now landed an exclusive deal with Salman Khan's home production.

The Kingfisher calendar model will not only now star in Sher Khan, she will also star in the sequel of Partner and the remake of Amar Akbar Anthony, that will feature all the three Khan brothers Salman, Arbaaz and Sohail, both slated for 2013.

Says our source, "Angela's career in Bollywood wasn't taking off. But Salman and Sohail saw her potential and offered her an exclusive contract before she made the wrong career moves.

Now she will be eligible for all of Salman's home productions, though they don't necessarily have to sign her for every film they make."

Players movie review

Players Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu, Bobby Deol, Sonam Kapoor, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Sikander Kher, Omi Vaidya, Johny Lever, Aftab Shivdasani, Vinod Khanna, Vyacheslav Razbegaev January 6, 2012 03:34:19 PM IST

The 2003 Hollywood release, THE ITALIAN JOB was a decent flick. The movie opens with the heist of $35 million in gold bars from a Venetian mansion. And although PLAYERS, Abbas-Mustan's latest offering is a straight lift from the Hollywood flick, they fail to even lift impressively. I mean, you have a ready plot, you know what each actor's role ought to be and the screenplay is well laid out. All they have to do is adapt it to the Indian audience which, frankly speaking requires a little imagination. That's where they suffer!

There are enough loopholes in the plot which will have you leave your mouth open gaping in disbelief. In fact, if one starts to get going, pointing out the flaws, one will not know where to stop. Here are a few...
The gold bars, after they have been robbed in Russia, find a safe haven in New Zealand. How did they land there? We are talking about tons of gold here?
Finally, how on earth can a few Indians infiltrate the Russian government and execute a heist of this magnitude? And then they go all the way to New Zealand to claim the gold back. They are more comfortable than the locals on the Kiwi streets, blasting off their underways and creating traffic jams, 'Like in Mumbai'.
Is Mumbai the only place in the world famous for traffic jams? And is MERA NAAM JOKER the only film the Russians remember? I wonder if Abbas-Mustan even realize what they have done to tarnish the image of India abroad.Having said that, let's also give credit where it is due, PLAYERS is a slick treat of high adrenaline action scenes that rates up there with the best in Bollywood. With thrillers being their forte, and action their main course, Abbas-Mustan do not disappoint in this department.

Abhishek Bachchan (Charlie) and Bipasha Basu (Riya) are partners in crime. Six months before and after a con job, they stay away from each other to plan their next big robbery. No one doubts their involvement. But now, there is a big heist to undertake and it requires not just Charlie and Riya but a gang of experts to pull it off.

The Russian mafia is after Aftab Shivdasani because he is sitting on a goldmine of information. He knows where, when and how the Romanian gold is going to be sent back to its country by Russia. He also knows which high-profile Russian officials will be a part of this very important operation. However, he is killed by the mafia, and a parcel he has left with his wife in Goa is given to Charlie after his death. The parcel contains a CD with some basic information. He advises Charlie to get a team of Players, the world's best to pull off this gold heist.

Only Vinod Khanna, a master con artist himself who is in jail, can set this team up for Charlie who incidentally is also his Chartered Accountant and a friend of his daughter Sonam Kapoor (Naina). Being a computer genius with a Masters in ethical hacking, Naina is an integral part of the team. There's also Bobby Deol (Ronnie) who is the equivalent of P C Sorcar, a master illusionist; Omi Vaidya (Sunny), a prosthetics expert; Sikander Kher (Bilal) who has worked with several secret service agencies all over the world and Spider (Neil Nitin Mukesh), a computer geek.

CHECK OUT: PLAYERS to outshine DHOOM 2 action?

From here, the movie moves on to slick action zone taking the viewer on a high-speed ride through Russian terrain where each Player has to play his part to get through the gold bars. The clip with the two trains running parallel to each other with Charlie dangling mid-air off-loading the gold while the Russian guards are hoodwinked by Ronnie's illusion is well-executed.

The mystery unfolds once the gold has been successfully robbed. The drama begins anew!

It would not be wrong to say that most of the cast are plastic in their expression. Bobby Deol sports a grumpy look, mouthing just a few lines. There are no layers to Abhishek's character and he is left performing at just one level, while Neil Nitin Mukesh, though looks good in his role, fails to inject that necessary fear element. Bipasha Basu does what she does best, looking hot. But it is Sonam Kapoor who disappoints. I get the feeling that the poor girl is trying too hard to play this 'oomphy' character. She is either overawed by Bipasha or is rattled by the recent spate of her flops. The music too is a big let-down, with songs unnecessarily thrown in.

The relief comes from Johnny Lever who has a foreign wife and a gora 'Ramu Kaka', all based in Wellington, New Zealand. I guess, Abbas-Mustan sensed what they had done and injected Lever's track at an opportune time allowing the audience to let of steam with a hearty laugh!

The rating is purely for the thrills!

Rating : 2.5/5
