| Stay Fresh. All Night Long. Posted: 12 Nov 2011 02:30 AM PST By Madelyn of University of Georgia. Follow me @maddierose12. AKA 10 Ways to Stay Cute at a College Party. My biggest pet peeve is going to a frat party after an hour of primping only to have: - My hair frizz/go flat/get knotted, etc.
- My makeup melt off my face
- Sweat stains down to my waist
- Get a million blisters from my not-so-sensible party heels
Pain is beauty, right? Wrong. Neither is B.O., tequila breath, or Lady Gaga-esque hair. Try some of these little tricks and see if your night doesn’t end up a little bit better. The frat daddies will appreciate it too. So, you wanna look like this for your band party/social/night-on-the-town? imdb.com Just a word to the wise. - BLISTER BE-GONE Love your 6-inch wedges? Not by the end of the night. To prevent blisters before they happen, swipe Bodyglide anti-chafe balm ($9; drugstore.com) on areas that come in contact with your shoes. It works on bra straps too.
- COVER PIMPLES A nice little trick to cover that pimple you popped this morning and can’t cover. Brush New-Skin ($4/0.3 oz; Wal-mart) liquid bandage over the spot and let dry. Then apply your concealer. The bandage provides a smooth surface for your makeup.
- DON’T HAVE A MELTDOWN Primer only goes so far when it comes to raves and packed frat houses. Freeze makeup with hairspray. Yes, hairspray. Spray it directly on your face and it sucks the oil right off your face and gives you a nice matte finish to your makeup. Yeah, you might get shiny, but at least it your foundation won't budge. Try L'Oreal Elnett StrongHold Hairspray ($13; Target)
- MAX OUT YOUR MOISTURIZE Layer primer over your nightly moisturizer before you go to sleep. The primer seals in the moisturizer and also gives you a glow when you wake up in the morning!
- TRY FAKE EYELASHES I know they sound scary, but they make all the difference. Most strips are too long, so just trim them to fit your eyes. For volume, wear a full strip. For flirty, cat-eye look, cut the lashes in half and fit them to the outer corners of your eyes. Meow! Get started with Andrea Modlash False Eyelashes Starter Kit 53 in Black ($7; Walgreens).
- WEAR THE RIGHT KIND OF PERFUME Opt for eau de parfum rather than toilette. Although it's heavier (and usually more expensive), it will last longer. Try a brand that contains multiple notes; the scent will change as the night goes on. Coach's Poppy Flower sprays on fruity with notes of lychee and raspberry, but once the top notes wear off, the fragrance settles into a rosy floral. Eau de parfum, $65/1.7 oz; coach.com. Want to keep cool? Stash your scent in the fridge and spray it on before you go out. Keeping the bottle refrigerated also helps preserve the fragrance.
- USE DRY SHAMPOO…NOT HAIRSPRAY Although hairspray is great, when it gets hot out there or you sweat, it will fail you. Hairspray will weigh hair down, especially if sprayed on the scalp. The purpose of dry shampoo is to suck the oils out of your scalp and make hair look like it has been washed. Dry shampoo can be used in place of hairspray and it won't make your hair flat. Dry shampoo can even be used for teasing because it texturizes your hair, which makes it easier to hold the style. Try Big Sexy Hair Volumizing Dry Shampoo ($16, Kroger).
- CONSIDER AN UPDO No matter how good your Kim Kardashian waves look in your room, they will not look that way after a couple hours of dancing and house-hopping. Do yourself a favor and wear your hair up. Try a fishtail, messy bun, braided bangs, messy bun with braided bangs. The options are endless. If you need ideas to get started, Google your favorite celebrity's name and put updos after their name. Jackpot. #laurenconradhasbestupdosever.
celebritywallpaper.org - HAVE A STATEMENT LOOK So you stand out! Try a bold nail color; or heavy, winged eyeliner or a red lip. Revlon ColorBurst Lipstick in True Red is a universally flattering shade that works on everyone because the pigment is a true red: not too cool and not too warm. $9; cvs.com. All those boys will remember you that much better.
- GO HARD, BUT NOT TOO HARD Lay off the alcohol. It makes you sweat. And not smell too great either. Be classy.
Some of your products!: Take care of yourself afterward: - TAKE OFF YOUR MAKEUP!! Never go to sleep still wearing your makeup. Gross. Your pores will thank you.
- Puffy eyes? Salty food, alcohol and lack of sleep are the main culprits. Cutting back on these and drinking LOTS of water will go a long way to fixing this. Long night? It's cliché, but chilled cucumber slices help. Or use these cute eye pads instead: Recover-E Cucumber eye pads, $6; eartheraputics.com. The vitamin E and C constrict blood vessels and prevent fluid from pooling.
