Singham : Movie Review

'Singham' is a Hindi remake of Tamil blockbuster, 'Singham' which means 'Lion'. Here Ajay Devgan roars like a Lion where his action speaks more than words. Ajay plays a tough cop who breaks law to establish peace in his territory. On looking at the promo, the film was compared to Salman Khan starrer, 'Dabangg' but the movie stands nowhere near to 'Dabangg' with the only exception that Ajay also plays a rough, tough and muscular cop. Ajay Devgan and Rohit Shetty's combination is always a hit and here too the pairing rocks.

In this movie, Ajay Devgan plays Bajirao Singham, an honest, intelligent cop. He is in charge of a small village named Shivgad on the Maharashtra-Goa border. He has his own set of principles and makes sure that there is a total peace in the village. He cannot tolerate injustice and use his full force to maintain peace in the village.

And in due course of action, he takes up fight with a powerful criminal cum politician Jaykant Shikre (Prakash Raj). Shikre is all determined to make Singham's life worst than a hell. In the meanwhile, Singham falls in love with Kavya (Kajal Aggarwal). To take revenge against Singham, Shikre gets him transferred to his own backyard, Goa. But the criminal least knows that it is impossible to stop the roaring of a lion wherever he gets him shifted.

In Goa, Singham meets Sonali Kulkarni widow of Rakesh Kadam. Kadam was an honest police officer but committed suicide. His family made Singham realizes that the system needs to be changed.

Director Rohit Shetty has left no stone unturned to make Singham a highly entertaining film and he has been successful to a great extend. He scored full marks in action sequences. Though he is basically known for humor flicks, he showed his prowess in action film as well. 'Singham' has a high voltage action drama but Rohit Shetty has also incorporated some funny dialogues in some parts. The conversation between Bajirao and Shikre is at times full of humor.

Speaking about dialogues and action, cars flying in the air, Ajay's high jump and blowing his enemies, bikes scrolling has a desired result. Dialogues written by Farhad-Sajid and delivered by Ajay have lots of Marathi dialogues which the actor delivered really well.

Dudley's cinematography is okay. Ajay and Atul Gogavale's music is not at all ear-soothing. Steven H. Bernard's editing has few loop holes.

Speaking about performances, Ajay Devgan is undoubtedly a superb performer. 'Singham' means lion and Ajay really stands to the title. He roared like a lion in the movie. It is a total Ajay Devgan's flick. Kajal Aggarwal has a little role to enact. Ajay and Kajal's chemistry fail to ignite spark. Prakash Raj in the villainous role is quite electrifying. Supporting actors like Sonali Kukarni, Ashok Saraf, Govind Namdev, Ashok Samarth, Muruli Sharma and Anant Jog acted really well. Sudhanshu Pandey was effective.

In the nutshell, 'Singham' is totally a masala flick, a flick for the masses. If you are an action lover, then film will give you cent percent entertainment but if you wants to experience some romance between Ajay and Kajal then you will be highly disappointed. If you are a die hard action lover then go for it. Other than action, don't expect anything else from 'Singham'.

A source revealed, "It`s going to be uncomfortable. But given the level of professionalism these two display, it shouldn`t be that much trouble. Both of them are excited about this project and want to make sure their personal equation doesn`t affect it."

After break-up, Sasha and Piggy Chops moved on. Priyanka busy gelling up with good friend Shahrukh while Shahid is rumored to be dating John Abraham's ex-flame Bipasha Basu.

Katrina and Hrithik paired up first time in Zoya Akhtar's flick and the film turned out to be massive hit.

Short Term Shaadi, starring Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor is set to hit theaters on Valentine's Day next year.

Produced by Karan Johar, the film is a full-on romantic and according to KJO, there is no better time to release the film than 14th Feb.

Las Vegas is where a part of the film has been shot. However, the shooting that was supposed to happen in Mumbai, isn't going as planned as both Imran Khan and Bebo have a packed schedule.

Currently, Imran is celebrating his belated honeymoon with wife Avantika. He is expected to resume the shoot of Short Term Shaadi only sometime after September.

It's seriously going to be a feast to the eyes watching Imran and Kareena together on screen.

John for the first time poured his heart out about his split-up with Bipasha on Simi Garewals talk show, 'India's Most Desirable'. The actress is not in the favor of speaking private life in public and also did not support John for sharing about their relationship and break-up in front of the world.

"Wht happens between 2 ppl is supposed 2 stay between d 2 when its over, that's d dignity that I have grown up with and the respect I deserve. I dn't need to be on a talk show 2 prove my goodness!My relationship with John Abraham is over fr good, fr reasons knwn best to d both of us," Bipasha tweeted.

"My break up happened almost a year ago! Why r these stories coming up now? Is it a pr-exercise for a film or overimaginative journalism?" she added.

Gul Panag, puzzled over Katrina's apology, tweeted, 'Katrina had to apologize on 'half-indian' comment on RG. Why?'

And when a fan questioned Katrina's intentions, she wrote back: 'bad intentions? She was being questioned about about her "half indian " status. She said she isn't the only one!'

Author Chetan Bhagat also supported Katrina. 'for those who are question (sic) Katrina's credibility, well she has achieved more than you ever will. In any case, do you need a PhD genetics expert level credibility to make a comment on someone being mixed-race?' he wrote.

Kajal says, "Its not the amount of screen space that I have but it is the quality of work that I deliver. Yes, its an Ajay Devgn film but I will stand out with my performance. I am sure after watching the film people won't stop loving me."

Says a source from the industry: "These days, promotions of the films in the industry are in keeping with their themes. Just recently the cast of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara took off on a road trip to promote the film. So, Salman bhai too thought it was best to make Shera unveil the first look of the film".

Ever since the news reached Shera, he has been overjoyed and bubbling with excitement. It took quite a while for Shera to get a grasp of the situation. When he got hold of his nerves, he told Salman that it is indeed an honour for him, and he shall fulfill Salman's wish.

Katrina Kaif's recent comment on Rahul Ghandi's nationality, did make quite a hallaballa in the political circle.

Apparently, Kats was literally fed up on being questioned every now and then about her nationality. She replied: "Am I supposed to be ashamed that I am half Asian, half European? I mean, no! Rahul Gandhi is half Indian, half Italian. So?"

Reacting to her comment, the Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari spat fiery words at Kats,

"Katrina Kaif, who? I do not know. Tomorrow, you will ask for our reaction on the statement of Johny Lever," Manish Tewari said.

However, on being asked by a news channel to clarify her comment, Katrina said,

"The comment has been misconstrued, the comment has been taken out of context, but having said that if I have caused any hurt to anyone, I deeply apologize, I had not the intention (to hurt anyone) at all. But I would also request the media to please not make a controversial issue out of something that was not said with any malice," Katrina said.

Gossip : Asin-Neil split!

Asin Thottumkal who was seeing Neil Nitin Mukesh, broke up recently, through a text message that simply said: "It's over".

Ever since that message, the two actors haven't been on talking terms.
A source reveals, "In any case, they never made their relationship public. Asin had made it very clear that Neil shouldn't ever talk about them to the press or otherwise.

Strangely the two are poles apart — she's controlling and fiercely ambitious, he's fun-loving and easy going. Like every other couple, they too had fights; teething problems, if you please. But the real trouble began when Asin started getting close to Salman Khan."

If buzz is to be believed, Neil did not appreciate Asin attending Salman Khan's house parties. On confronting
Asin, she told him to back off. "She was bonding with everyone from John (Abraham) to Akshay (Kumar). Even though all this was for work and to sign big films, Neil felt he was getting sidelined.

He raised the issue often but she refused to address it. Soon, Asin just stopped answering his calls.

Kareena Kapoor is finally back to Madhur Bhadarkar's 'Heroine'. After lot of speculations and assumption, Bhandarkar has been able to get her dream heroine into his dream project 'Heroine'. Kareena Kapoor is ready to do the film but laid certain condition.

On Monday, UTV's CEO Siddharth Roy Kapur and the writer of 'Heroine' Niranjan Iyengar flew down to Hyderabad to meet Kareena who is spending time with Saif Ali Khan to discuss the film. She has agreed to be a part of the project.

"Kareena has consented to the snorting, drinking and smoking scenes. Earlier, she had strong reservations against them. Now, she just doesn't want to do the explicit lovemaking scenes with Arjun Rampal and Sudhir Mishra's discovery Arunoday Singh. Those scenes are extremely sexy and Kareena is just not comfortable doing them," informed a source.

A source close to the film informed, "Iyengar is very close to Kareena. He knew that this time he would be able to convince her. Both Kapur and Iyengar were very happy after the meeting. They were beaming. Madhur too was happy to learn that Kareena has agreed to do the film."

Highly impressed with Katrina Kaif's 'Sheila Ki Jawani' in 'Tees Maar Khan', Salman Khan approaches Katrina Kaif to sizzle in an item number for his film 'Bodyguard'. It will not be an ordinary item number but the song wil be played in the opening credits of the film.

The item number will be composed by Himsh Reshammiya and choreographed by Ganesh Acharya. Another speciality of the song is that the item number will fall along the line of James Bond's opening credits.

The song will be shot on July 26. Salman and Katrina as a lead pairing will be next seen in Yash Raj's 'Ek Tha Tiger' to be directed by Kabir Khan of 'New York'.
