| Vidya Balan: I have no boundaries Posted: 08 Jan 2012 11:28 AM PST The Dirty Picture actor has her priorities neatly laid out. And while her contemporaries are pretty gung-ho about tying the knot, Vidya would rather spend some more time with the moviesVidya Balan, the leading lady of Kahaani doesn't mind getting hitched, but it's certainly not on her priority list. "My career is going good. Emotionally and mentally I am in a very happy space, by God's grace. I am not thinking about marriage now, but I'm sure there's a right time for it. I believe in the institution of marriage. I won't ignore it for a long, but yeah, for now I am keeping it aside. I will definitely get married," said Vidya, who is apparently dating Siddharth Roy Kapur, CEO of UTV Motion Pictures. So, what is it that's keeping Vidya from saying |
| Shilpa Shetty follows Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Posted: 08 Jan 2012 09:28 AM PST The mother-to-be was recently seen covering up her baby bump at a function, just the way Aishwarya did when she was pregnant Tugging at her dupatta every now and then, Shilpa Shetty didn't seem quite comfortable with people having a glance at her tummy at a recent event. Making sure she hid her curvy little bump, Shilpa's concealing act reminds us of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who was equally conscious at one point of time about baring the swollen-up stomach. Fortunately Beti-B arrived soon enough and rescued her from the tiring task of playing hide-and-seek. On other hand, B-town to-be-mommies Celina Jaitley and Lara Dutta Bhupathi seem to be extremely comfortable in their own burgeoning skins right now. Not treating the whole pregnancy thing like a hush-hush affair, they sashay around in stylish body-hugging outfits and flaunt their figures (however disproportionate) unabashedly. So we suggest Shilpa takes a chill pill and sheds all the inhibitions to travel out of the realm of how a conventional mommy should dress. We think Ms Shetty is glowing and looking absolutely gorgeous in a loose cream kurta and net dupatta, but if she's planning to become the coy and demure type – we suggest she gets that style statement right out of her head! | Posted: 08 Jan 2012 07:28 AM PST Apparently, the producer/director has been denied permission by the Animal Welfare Board to use rodents in his film Rakesh Roshan's upcoming film Krissh 3, which is currently under production was denied permission by the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) to include rats in one of the scenes. The board has also sought an explanation for scorpions and frogs that were found misused earlier on their sets. In the application made by them, Roshan's production house sought permission to include five rats. This was for a scene in which the artiste would keep all these animals and insects in a lab because he is shown to be an animal lover in the film. However, AWBI denied the application late last month. And instead, they asked the applicant to explain about the snakes, scorpions, frogs and other creatures that were seen loitering around on the sets. It was recently reported that the script of the film demanded real reptiles rather than animated versions. Hrithik Roshan had assured that the reptiles would not harm others or get harmed, as there were trained professionals to look after them. The other side When we tried contacting Major General R M Kharb, the chairman of AWBI, he was unavailable for comment. |
| Posted: 08 Jan 2012 05:28 AM PST KJo opts out of Arjun Rampal's chat show fearing uncomfortable questions from a celeb hater Karan Johar might have asked a lot of uncomfortable questions to the celebrity guests on his chat show, but when it was his turn to be on the hot seat, he opted out. Interestingly, after much dilly-dallying, the filmmaker refused to appear on a chat show hosted by Arjun Rampal, apparently because he isn't too comfortable facing public criticism. Rampal's chat show Luv To Hate You's format brings together a celeb and a celeb hater, who subjects the celebrity to rather bitter criticism. Says a source, "Normally Karan is open to any kind of invitation from a friend on any public platform. He has walked the ramp and talked on numerous talk shows for friends. Arjun is a very dear friend. But he had to say no to his show because of the nature and format of the show." Arjun Rampal confirmed Karan opting out of the show. "Karan won't come on my show. I think he's apprehensive of what his hater may spring on him, " he said. Better luck next time! Arjun was able to rope in Ram Gopal Varma to appear on his chat show. Interestingly, Ramu had refused an offer from KJo for his talk show. Courtesy: Mid-Day.comMore Titbits..Krissh 3: No rats for Roshans |

| Players - Review by Troy Ribeiro Posted: 08 Jan 2012 01:28 AM PST "Players" is a synthetically made formula thriller. It does not touch you emotionally. - Troy Ribeiro Thu, 05 Jan 2012 They say birds of the same feather flock together: Charlie Mascarenhas (Abhishek Bachchan) and Riya (Bipasha Basu) are partners in conning and daredevil robbery. As a last gift, Charlie's friend Raj (Aftab Shivdasani) reveals through a CD the possibility of a heist. "Ten thousand crore rupees worth of gold would be transported from Russia to Romania." Raj warns Charlie that this heist, an improbable feat, is not a one man job. He would need a team to execute it and the only person who can help him put up the team is ace thief Victor Braganza (Vinod Khanna). Victor assembles the players - Riya, an expert machinist, Bilal Bashir (Sikander Kher), an explosive expert who likes foreign cars, Ronny (Bobby Deol), a magician, and Sunny Mehra (Omi Vaidya), a make-up artist. Naturally, the captain of this team is Charlie Mascarenhas and their goal - The Gold. In today's age, with the complexity of the internet, the team lacked a hacker. Victor's daughter Naina (Sonam Kapoor) unsuspectingly offers help by suggesting ace hacker, Spider (Nitin Neil Mukesh), to the team. In the show of one-upmanship, what follows the heist is a game of con and deceit at every moment of the film. For humour, there is MC (Johnny Lever) and his family. Sleekly made with fine action, crisp razor sharp edits, speeding cars and exciting photography giving you glimpses of scenic Siberia, Amsterdam and New Zealand, the film reminds you of a Bond film. The leggy babes with leotard and boots, the guys with stubble and leather jackets, the palatial villas, the elongated limousines, the long car chases, the heist on the train - everything looks glossy and out of this world. The racy background score by Sandeep Shirodkar and the soundtrack by Pritam creates the adrenaline required for a thriller but unfortunately the well-intended choreographed numbers breaks the momentum. Ravi Yadav's cinematography and Husain Burmawala's editing are worth a mention. Technically, Abbas Mastan have churned out a very fine movie. Unfortunately, the film delivers without any emotions. It is evident that the actors have not put their soul to the characters; they have just walked through their roles. And it shows. The glycerine and the pancake take the applause. Sikander Kher seems to have some promise. In certain scenes, Sonam reminds of Simi Garewal. Vinod Khanna, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Abhishek's performances lack energy. Omi and Johnny Lever are stereotyped with their comic dialogue delivery. Bipasha has nothing new to offer and Bobby Deol is wasted in the minuscule role. Touted as the desi version of Hollywood film "The Italian Job", the script sticks to the basic plot but is unable to get into the recesses of its characters. "Players" is a synthetically made formula thriller. It does not touch you emotionally. But a good watch nonetheless. Recent Reviews |
